Over the weekend I found myself in a fine Italian restaurant called Villaggio in Tottenville. Walking in to a fairly busy place and being with a group of seven I was unsure whether they would be able to accommodate us. Well, they did and boy am I glad. Our waitress( can't remember her name) was very sociable and made us all feel at home. Eventhough she had her hands fill with other patrons, she managed to keep checking on us and made sure we were satisfied. Getting into the food, all I can think of is AMAZING. I'm usually not one to brag about restaurant food but this place deserves it. We started with garlic knots, which were so good that I didn't even care if the scent of garlic was seeping through my pores. For dinner I had chicken pear. I was skeptical about ordering it, for it is not something that I would usually eat. I was shocked. Pistachio crusted chicken in a hazelnut liquer with raisins and pears. Heaven on a plate! My wife had a cavatelli dish that was baked with breaded eggplant, breadcrumbs and
riccotta salata in a fresh plum tomato sauce. She licked the plate clean. The other guest at my table were also satisfied with the food. For dessert we had homemade cannolis, that were just as good as the ones I drive into Brooklyn for at villabate. As for the price, it was average and worth every penny. Overall I had a great experience at this restaurant and I will be returning very soon! |
