My wife and I came here when it was Side Bar and noticed they did a lot of work. When you look past it all, it looks cheap. Take the bar, for example, it's plywood that was painted a high-gloss black. I'd rather stay home with my granite counter tops, then come back here with friends. It also smelled musty in certain areas, which was masked by either a scented candle or flowers... that my wife said looked more like weeds.
As for the food, everything that wasn't made there was wonderful. I highly recommend the burrata, which melts in your mouth, as it should! The beet "salad" looks as if sliced beets were taken from a can (they were not or they would be sweeter and better tasting), then arranged neatly in a circle (like my son's craft project), add a squeeze of cheese to fill the center hole...no greens. Finished with salt and pepper.
My main course, also, had no imagination or creativity. My fish was grilled perfectly, but lacked under notes of flavor... lemon or citrus would have helped the plain salt and pepper! My wife's dish was just "okay", I had much better dishes around the corner at Zana D and for the first time she agreed with me!
Dessert, however, was also a disaster! The waiter informed us nothing is made in-house and it certain tasted like it was sitting around for sometime! One side of my wife's cake was hard and crusty! I can go to the Tenafly diner and pay less money and get the same, if not better! It was unbelievable, since there were barely any other tables, that the kitchen didn't take the time to cut off the stale side! It became clear why they had no business,,, it wasn't the weather.
Inquiring about the chef, the owner Monica, told us he wasn't available. I later found out he hasn't been there for a few weeks.
Needless to say, my wife and I will not be back for the mediocre, expensive food; okay service, and will never again be misled.
